Kahlil Gibran was born in the village of Bisharri, Lebanon, before he migrated to America in 1895. He was twelve at that time. He studied in Paris and then came back to New York. His book "The Prophet" is estimated to have sold more than 20 million copies in English alone. It is widely acclaimed as one of the most spiritual books ever written. Infact, it is considered the most widely read book of the 20th century. He passed away in 1931, when he was only 48. --This text refers to an alternateedition.
